Another day another dollar

Well, I started back work today. I found I had forgotten 2 or 3 passwords so that's great, lol. Tonight I think I am gonna tape Prison Break & 24 and read some books on Web Design, my book reading as of late has been in the fiction category and I need to start brushing up on my web skills again. That's all that's really going on. I might try to make this site look a little bit better tonight, should I get the mood. That's it. Hasta.

Saturday

Well it's Saturday and what does that mean???? Nothing. Today I am not gonna post any kind of tutorials, mainly cause it's a weekend and I am already tired. Hope everybody else's weekend goes groovy. Hasta

Tutorials/Site Updates

Ok so lately the updates on this site have been few and far between. Next week I will start posting about a tutorial a day. These next tutorials I will be posting, will be focused on changing the design of your Moveable Type BLOG. Now what do I mean by design exactly. Specifically, what I am talking about, is the page layout/colors used/backgrounds/etc. The default design of Moveable Type looks nice but, I am gonna try and write out some tutorials that'll make your MT BLOG look better. I'll try to keep the tech jargon to a minimum if possible but, hey let's be honest, if you were able to install Moveable Type at all, you have some technical knowledge, either that or you are just really stubborn, lol. So why do I need a week before I start posting this stuff ? Well the reasons are:

A.) I first have to figure out design-wise where I am wanting to go with this BLOG
B.) After I figure out the design, I have to actually learn how to implement the changes well enough to the point that the tutorials I write will be somewhat clear.
C.) I kinda just wanna take a week, lol.

So that's what's gonna be going on with the site for the next week or so. I'll post more random stuff on here between now and then though if you wanna just come back here for the heck of it. Anyway, hope everybody's week is going good. Hasta.

Image Overlays

Just found an app that does image overlays, it's very cool. Oh I can't wait till I start posting this stuff next week.

Dude what is the deal

Ok so here is what is going on.

1.) Pretty much from the first to 15th billing takes up a decent portion of my time, so free time at work isn't as available to work on stuff.

2.) I am helping to set up a political website. I am neutral in my politics but, it's family and they need it built, and it's a good way to get familar with other webhosters, though dreamhost is starting to really get on my nerves.

3.) The whole ARG thing is starting up yet AGAIN. I swear, I thought the idea and the concept for it was dead, I had pretty much 90 percent given up on it, then somebody emailed me again saying they wanted to work on it, so that's been going on in the background as well

4.) I have not even had the time to think up a new site design for this site. Seriously I have thought of NOTHING. I have not had the time nor the energy. I mean heck I wasn't this busy even in college.

So between billing, family obligation, ARG, and well being worn out I haven't had a chance to do much. I keep waiting for the next thing to hit. Thursday is pretty much the deadline on the "politcal" website, whether I'll be able to get it finished or not by then is an entirely different matter. I don't think building a good website in a matter of two days is possible, if you sleep but, I am gonna try. After Friday, most if not all of this stuff will be DONE with. Billing will be ready to be sent out on Monday, the political website one way or another will be done, and the ARG I can work on along with this site's new design mainly cause whatever I learn in redesigning this site I might be able to use on the ARG.

Little side note: There is a reason why some webhosters are cheap. Dreamhost so far is coming a distant second to EZOSHosting.

Banana Cream Pie aka the Pie of Cream

I've never had Banana Cream Pie, least not that I remember and let me tell you something IT'S GOOD. Let's be honest here though it's more Cream Pie then anything, the Banana stuff at the bottom is just a bonus. I think it's maybe second in my pie list of best pies ever. Apple will always be at the top of the pie list cause there is nothing better then a good piece of hot apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top, NOTHING. So yeah, I took a small slice (which even a small slice is freaking huge with all that cream on top) and I've already finished the sucker. You can see a small remant of it on today's moblog pic (ok I ate that too). Anyway, not much has been going on really, got one or two tutorials set up for next week on this journal, one is about the photo module I added, that you see to the right. This weekend I am gonna work on this site and that site I am helping part of my family with. Well, I am off to drink craploads of water, as that piece of pie has me both wired and was well maybe a little too rich.

News, news, what's the news.

Well, I've wanted to update this site more but, stupid little stuff keeps popping up on me. I am hoping to get some stuff done over the weekend but, mind you I said "hoping". In general whenever I plan on updating the site, I end up not, cause of other crap. So you'll see an update when you see it. Almost finished with Cell, almost meaning "about 150 pages", let me tell you though, if your a zombie fan you'll probably like this book. It's Stephen King so you got a 9 outta 10 shot it's gonna be worth reading anyway. I should have called in sick today but, I didn't. I am not so much sick as just feeling mesirable. Yeah I should have stayed home and turned off the cell.

Well it was bound to happen

Well it was bound to happen, spammers eventually hunted this site down. 10 Comments all within the same hour, same minute even. Ok little tip to spammers if you wanna at least be believable as actual comments, post comments spaced out timewise, or better yet in your web site address don't put a freaking ad. Ugh. Other then having to delete these annoying comments. I got jack for the site. I was designing some stuff on pad and paper last night and I guess that's a work in progress so far. Anyway hope everybody's weekend is going great. Hasta.

Should have stayed in bed this morning

I blame myself, I went outside on a Saturday. I won't get into the nitty gritty but a decen't portion of the last couple of hours today have sucked, part of the suckitude being likely two flat tires and the last of it ending with my shower drain apparently still being clogged after having poured drain unclogger a couple of days ago down into it.

Hosting Updated & Vacation Time

Well it's official, I am going to Wizard World Chicago in August, I already asked for the 3rd and 4th off here at work & the ticket, if not already bought, will be bought soon. Among other things going on recently I got hosting updated for this site and a couple of other .com's I have had in the works. Pretty much I am gonna be working to implement a lot of those changes today as Ezoshosting sent me some info on what to do, though I am sure I will still be bugging the crap out of them every once and awhile. Will post more later. Hasta.

Done and going to be done

Well I FINALLY got all the changes made to the other .com's. With the new hosting plan I got, I was able to add about five other .com's to my actual hosting, so comicoverload.com and a couple of others will be up whenever I get the chance to start uploading stuff (which might be awhile with K-Mart & walking, taking center stage for awhile). Still trying to figure out this CSS code. CSS would be a whole lot easier to learn if better books were written on it. Right now I have been reading a book by Eric Meyer which is a good tutorial of sorts but, not comprehensive enough for my taste. Sometime I need to tweak the code on this site more, I have found that the lightbox javascript app has problems when old journal entries get moved off the main page. Well back to the grindstone, so to speak. Hasta

6/28/06 2:40PM - Edit: Lightbox javascript errors now fixed.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy....maybe?

You know more and more the way technology is moving we are getting closer to having a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. For those that have no clue what I am talking about Douglas Adams' has written a series of books based around "the guide" as it is sometimes referred to. The guide essentially was like having the sum of all human/alien knowledge in the palm of your hand, it updating as new information came in, marketed for those traveling the galaxy I guess I sort of realized the possible reality of the guide after reading CNN's Business 2.0 on the 50 Fifty People Who Matter. One of Google's founders Sergey Brin's long term strategies being, "organizing all that information into a database that will act as a kind of global brain for all human knowledge". Then I read this statement about Flickr an it's co-founders: " means finding new ways to emphasize human-powered keyword tagging and filtering, on everything from your own search results to travel itineraries and restaurant reviews. Incorporating the subjective nuances of human judgment into its search results". Given Flickr's photograph/social site combined with the technlogical info/gathering power that is Google, it would seem natural to assume that in a couple of years such a thing as depicted in Douglas Adam's books will become a reality. A wireless electronic pad/book that when asked can display bus schedules/air flight times/resturants available in the nearby area/directions/culture & customs of the area/helpful tips/etc, etc. As it is now, the framework for such a massive guide has already been laid. The key to all of this is the technology in itself and the reliability of the information ( which even in Adam's books the reliability of the information in the guide was said to be iffy at times). Given recent technological advances (wireless computing, portable battery power lengthening, etc) it makes me wonder how much longer before something like "the guide" is marketed and sold to the general public. Something to think about.

See ya later Big K

Well I quit K-Mart, yeah I know it was quick but, really it wasn't, I gave it almost 2 months. There are a lot of reasons I quit but, the main one was I was working WAYY too hard for 6.25 an hour. Everything is good either way though, I got enough while I was there to pay for certain things in the future, and have as an emergency fund in case something should happen financially later on. Tonight I am gonna experiment with this style sheet some more, see if I can put an image up top, instead of the bland border that's up there now. Site of the month will be posted up tommorrow. That's pretty much all for now. Hasta.

Finally, something someone hasn't invented yet

Got an idea for a software program, why no one has thought of it before is beyond me, all I am gonna say is, it involves voice recording, that's it. I would write more but, I wanna write out all my thoughts on the idea while they are fresh.

I'm BAACK

Ok, so I am back from Chicago Con and yeah I'm tired, I am gonna try to update this site but, least for this week don't expect a crapload of updates. On the right hand side, towards the bottom I have added an amazon ad. This ad is there mainly just for me to get some extra cash but, otherwise it can be ignored, hence why it's at the bottom and not in clear view. Well that's all for now, I'll post more later likely. Hasta

Been awhile

Well it's been awhile since I last updated but, a lot of different stuff has been keeping me busy. Will try to update the site more this weekend but, I make no promises.

September 7, 2006

Busy, busy

Been pretty busy lately. Got an interview or two set up for the podcast but, whether or not it'll be workable is an entirely different situation. Scheduling keeps coming up as an issue and there is just so much stuff going on this month. Between people's weddings, birthdays, interviews and all the other stuff, things are kinda hectic. Forget even having time to work on websites. I don't mind keeping busy but, I'd like one or two weekends in a row where I just don't have anything and can have a little time to myself. Oh well, maybe next weekend.

On a side note, Good Well-Wishes to my Cousin Sara as she gets married this Saturday. I'll be there. Especially looking forward to the grub afterwards, hear it's gonna be goood. :)

Slacking. Well It's the Holiday Season

So I haven't updated this sucker in a LONG time. There are a lot of reasons, one of which is I have been updating and tweaking a comic book site/blog I started up: http://www.comicoverload.com. In general it's just a place where I put down my thoughts on comics for that week and anything else comic related that comes to my mind. Besides the whole comic website, I have just been busy with random other stuff. The holiday season has kinda been zipping by and I think everyone is just trying to speed right along with it. Got some possible good things happening with a thing at Transylvania University in the future but, for now it's all iffy and undetermined. I will try to update this site more, change the design some but, I make no promises other then to not forget about this blog entirely.

Morehead

Well as soon as work lets off, and I stop by the apartment to do something, I am heading out for Morehead. I figured I'd visit Meg since her B-Day was Wednesday maybe treat her & Crystal to some Chinese Buffet, also it's a chance to just hang out with everybody there. I haven't been back to MSU in over a year I think, really it's not by choice more due to the fact that gas prices have kinda been ridiculous, plus work, and many other reasons. I might crash at Meg & Crystal's tonight but, depending on the weather I am not sure yet, plus I don't wanna impose on them like that. Work "time check", 5 more hours, 4 not counting lunch hour.

Ugh, make the food stop

In the past month I have had more food thrown at me then in the whole entire year.

Two Weeks Ago - Christmas Party for work = Good dinner
Friday before Christmas - Pot-luck of sorts at work, think food enough for 40 people
Christmas - BIG Morning Breakfast/BIG Afternoon Lunch
Today - New Years' Work Pot-luck - UGh almost as much as the last potluck
Saturday - Food up at Ohio for Christmas up there

and people wonder why they gain extra weight during the holidays. If I have any more food thrown at me I am gonna lose it.

Wow, it's been awhile aka A Cell Phone I'd Really Like To See

Apparently the last time I put up an entry on here was freaking December, good gosh. A lot has been going on recently. Around in December I got the Night Help Desk job here at Translyvania Univ. Basically I work 6-11pm, Sun-Thurs. It's good, pays well, is kinda easy, the travel to and from is about 30 minutes but, hey, long as gas prices don't get to 3 bucks or above a gallon, this job is worth going to.

A lot of my time has been spent on one of the other sites I have been bloggin on, http://www.comicoverload.com, basically I read so much that it's a good way to just rant on about stuff within it, whether it be art or writing....which, well, with Marvel nine times outta ten I have a problem with the writing.

With this new part time job I roughly have....NO TIME. Ok, maybe that's overstating it. I still have my Friday nights' and all of Saturday free. I still have had a chance to keep up to date on all of this iPhone craziness.

The iPhone is a nice step in cell phone technology but, the biggest step will be when live video is integrated into cell phones. I am talking live person to person video communication. The tech has been approved greatly upon in the past couple of years for landline phones but, the next step is developing it hardcore for cell phones. I suppose the two most difficult components to the development of such a cell phone would be collapsable video screen, as well as the technology to compress and decompress real-time video quickly enough over cell phones. Time will tell when we get to this point. I'd say 10 years for this technology to come about but, maybe that's too optimistic.

May 28, 2007

Been awhile

Wow, I haven't updated in a REAL LONG TIME. A lot has been going on, mainly I was working a night job in addition to my full-time job, which basically meant I had absolutely NO free time. Well, the summer is here and with it, a break from the night job....least till September.

I am gonna try updating on here a little more, maybe change the layout a little, add a media player like I have on one of my other sites. Should probably incorporate some twitter up in here too!

Well that's all for now, back to watching The Shield.

Hasta.
